The Golden Pool was the perfect retreat we were looking for with occasional excursions to the main pool for any activity that interested us. We compared the golden pool to couple's island and main pool to singles island (from Couples Retreat movie). We spent our time at the quieter Golden pool which had more spots in the shade. If you get up later and want to be at the main pool, expect to be in the sun. You can buy a spot which may be why there are not many free spots. There are not many spots out of the sun at the main party pool. Here are some things that might bother others but weren't a big deal to us. We loved that they actually try to enforce the dress code at dinner. We enjoyed each one thoroughly and ate at them all. Great mattress and pillow (mattress was firm). One of the best rooms we have stayed in anywhere in Mexico. We had a Golden Suite which I would definitely recommend. While we have our favorite resorts inn Mexico (Excellence Riviera and Secrets Maroma), we decided to check out a new place and weren't disappointed. We love everything about this resort and can’t wait to return for our 4th visit! Thank you for your excellence! He was very outgoing and friendly, going out of his way to make us feel welcomed! We also wish to say a big thank you to the Lazy River wait staff: Edgar, Veronica and Magdiel! They kept our Yeti cups full and brought my husband countless cups of hielo! Lastly, please pass along my sincerest thank you to the Concierge in Building 7 this past Friday, as she went to the trouble to exchange my 5K winner shirt with the Go Team. The French restaurant is our favorite but the Ginger is also a close second! We really enjoy the sushi! Special thanks to Carlos at Ginger for his outstanding service this past Friday night! Special thanks to hostess Angelica at Le Marche each morning, as she always greeted us with a smile! We also want to give recognition to Jorge at Le Marche. The resort is quaint and even when at capacity, it still feels uncrowded and intimate. We like the fact that check-in is never a hassle and everyone treats us well, from the bell hop to the wait staff and the housekeeping staff. My husband and I stayed at VIM August 3-10, 2019 and had a wonderful vacation! This was our 3rd time here in the past 4 years and the Valentine has clearly become our favorite. The new menu at La Hacienda awesome, food there is spectacular! Service was still very good everywhere we went and it was good to see our Valentin family again! More Show less The food was still very good, however we felt that the quality went down at the Italian restaurant. Other than that, we had a good time at the Valentin. We will be going back in December 2019, hopefully this issue is fixed by the time we go back. Our last stay was in May 2019 and we still haven't received the points for those days. I understand glitches can happen, but it becomes frustrating after so many times. The issue with this program is that you NEVER get your points after a stay - you ALWAYS have to contact them to get the points, sometimes more than once. You can exchange the points against stuff like free nights and spa treatments. This program is free and gives you points for your stays. I reviewed this hotel a number of times already since I have been there 12 times so this time, I will review the Family Member program they have.
